Columbus Day 2026 falls on Monday, October 12, and mattress and furniture retailers will treat it the way they treat most federal-holiday Mondays: as an excuse for a sale. The question worth asking before you buy is whether the discount is actually as good as the big fall and winter sale events, or just dressed up to look that way.
Columbus Day mattress sale 2026: what's actually on offer
Current 2026 Columbus Day mattress offers we found range from roughly $300 to $1,000 off depending on the brand -- Amerisleep, Zoma, FORM, and Vaya all run their own Columbus Day promotions with different discount structures, which makes comparing "$X off" numbers across brands close to meaningless without knowing the starting price.
Is a Columbus Day sale a good deal, or a secondary-tier event?
Sources disagree here, which is worth being upfront about. Some mattress-industry sale calendars classify Columbus Day as a secondary-tier promotional event, with discounts that average shallower than the "big three" -- Memorial Day, Black Friday, and Presidents Day. Other coverage describes Columbus Day mattress deals as among the best of the year, in the 30-50% off range. The honest takeaway: it depends heavily on the brand, and neither generalization should be trusted over an actual price check.
Columbus Day vs. Black Friday discount: why the comparison is hard to make
Both events use the same tactic that makes any single-day sale hard to evaluate at a glance -- a "was" price set by the retailer, which can be inflated ahead of the sale so the percentage-off number looks larger. That's true whether it's Columbus Day, Black Friday, or any other calendar-driven sale; the discount off the listed price and the discount off what you've actually seen recently can be two very different numbers.
A mattress sale fake discount checker built for Columbus Day specifically
Instead of assuming Columbus Day is either "one of the best sales of the year" or "a lesser sale," the Columbus Day Mattress & Furniture Sale Real Discount Checker compares the listed price and deal price against a price you've actually seen recently -- the same real-vs-displayed-discount math used in our Prime Big Deal Days and Black Friday/Cyber Monday checkers, applied to this specific sale window.
