LastPass's password generator needs a button click and gives you one password. Ours gives you twenty, instantly.

Before building our password generator, we checked what one of the most widely used password managers offers in its free online generator — LastPass.

A secure password generator online, one at a time

LastPass's generator has no option to create more than one password per click, and nothing to exclude characters that are easy to misread (l vs I vs 1, O vs 0) — a gap common enough that people ask about it directly in other password managers' community forums. Ours generates up to 20 at once, each independent, with an "exclude ambiguous characters" toggle built in from the start.

No button, just live generation

Changing length or character types on LastPass's tool requires clicking "Generate" again. Ours regenerates the instant you move the length slider or toggle a character type — the same real-time pattern we use across every OllTools cube.

Strength shown as more than three buckets

LastPass's meter shows Weak, Average, or Strong — three coarse buckets with no visible reasoning. Ours shows four levels (Weak/Fair/Strong/Very strong) alongside the actual entropy in bits, calculated from your exact length and character set, so the number behind the label is visible too.

Why there's no share link here

Every other OllTools cube has a share-link option that encodes your input into the URL. This one deliberately doesn't — a generated password has no business appearing in a URL, browser history, or server log. Generation happens entirely in your browser via the Web Crypto API and never leaves it.
