Total time
Decimal hours

Useful for a quick shift total. For a full weekly timesheet with multiple days, use the Time Card Calculator instead.

Free hours calculator that shows the exact hours and minutes between two clock times — with an optional unpaid break deduction and automatic overnight-shift handling.

How it works

  1. Enter a start time and an end time
  2. Optionally subtract an unpaid break in minutes
  3. See the total in hours & minutes and as decimal hours

Frequently asked questions

What if my shift crosses midnight?

If the end time is earlier than the start time, this assumes the shift ends the next day and calculates accordingly — a note appears to confirm that assumption.

Why decimal hours?

Payroll and invoicing usually want hours as a decimal (like 7.5) rather than hours and minutes (7h 30m) — this shows both so you don't have to convert by hand.

I need a full week, not just one shift

Use the Time Card Calculator instead — it totals multiple days at once for a weekly timesheet.
