Where does this GDP data come from?
The World Bank's GDP (current US$) indicator, the same widely-cited dataset used by economists and journalists.
Is this GDP adjusted for cost of living (PPP)?
No — this shows nominal GDP in current US dollars, not purchasing-power-parity-adjusted GDP. Nominal GDP doesn't account for differences in prices or cost of living between countries.
Why do the two countries show different years?
The World Bank reports each country's most recently available year, and not every country reports on the same schedule — this tool always shows each country's latest available figure and labels the year.
Is my query sent to your servers?
No — your country selections are used only to call the World Bank API directly from your browser.
