Bulk (by the cubic yard) is usually cheaper than bags once you need more than about 2-3 cubic yards — worth checking bulk delivery pricing for larger beds.

Frequently asked questions
How deep should mulch be?
2-3 inches is typical for topping up an existing bed; 3-4 inches for a brand new bed. Much deeper than 4 inches can actually suffocate plant roots rather than help them.
Bags or bulk?
Bagged mulch is convenient for small beds, but bulk (delivered by the cubic yard) is usually cheaper once you need more than about 2-3 cubic yards — worth a quick price check for larger jobs.
