Before building our QR code generator, we looked at actual reviews of two of the most-used "free" QR generators — and found the same complaint pattern on both.
"Free QR code generator, no expiration" — until it expires
One tool sits at 1.5/5 on Trustpilot. A recurring complaint: sign up for a "free, never-expires" QR code, and days later get an email demanding payment (one reviewer cited €163) or the code stops working. A second tool has near-identical reports — around 600 already-printed materials rendered useless when a "free" dynamic code was deactivated without warning.
Both are describing the same underlying mechanic: a dynamic QR code that points to a redirect URL the company controls, which they can turn off. Ours doesn't do this. Every code this tool makes is static — your URL, text, or WiFi credentials are encoded directly into the QR pattern itself. There's no redirect server to shut off, because there isn't a server involved at all.
A qr code generator for WiFi, no typing required
Switch to the WiFi tab, enter the network name and password, and the resulting code connects a phone automatically when scanned — useful for guest networks or printed instructions where you'd rather not read a password aloud character by character.
Live preview, not a "Create QR Code" button
We checked one of these tools directly: you enter your content and customize colors, then have to click "Create QR Code" to see anything. Ours renders the moment you type or change a color — URL, text, WiFi, email, or phone, all in the same live preview.
What we didn't build yet
A center logo is common in QR generators and was on our original list — we left it out of this version. Embedding a logo safely means locking error correction to a higher level and recalculating which modules it's safe to cover, and we'd rather ship that correctly later than claim it works today.
