niram.org's reading time tool needs you to click "Estimate Reading Time!" — every edit means clicking again. Ours recalculates the instant you stop typing, no button anywhere.
How long will it take to read this — at your actual speed
The same tool uses a fixed 200 words-per-minute rate with no way to change it. That matters: research on reading-time accuracy consistently points out that plugging in your own measured speed is the single biggest factor in getting an accurate estimate, more than any other setting. Ours has a number input for exactly that.
Reading time estimator with custom wpm, not just two presets
readtime.io is more flexible — it toggles between a "Silent 225 wpm" and "Speaking 155 wpm" preset — but still caps you at those two numbers. If your own reading speed is 260 or 140, there's no way to enter it directly. Ours has three presets (Slow, Average, Fast) plus an open number field for any wpm you want.
