Before building our text diff checker, we checked what a widely-used diff tool actually gives away for free, and what it holds back.
A text diff checker that doesn't need a "Find difference" button
Diffchecker's text-compare page has a "Find difference" button — every edit means clicking it again to see the updated result. Ours compares the moment either text box changes, no button anywhere.
Compare two text files online without hitting a monthly cap
We checked Diffchecker's own pricing page directly: the free plan limits the "Real-time editor" to 5 tries a month and "Character-level differences" to 10 a month — after that, live and character-level comparison stop being free. Ours has no such counter. Compare as many times as you want, every day, for free.
A diff checker with no signup, ever
Nothing here requires an account. Paste two blocks of text and the comparison runs entirely in your browser — there's no "sign up to save this session" wall to hit.
Real-time text comparison, word level, without paying to remove ads
Diffchecker's pricing page lists "No ads" as a Pro-plan-only feature — meaning the free tier shows ads by default. This tool's text box follows the same ad-free rule as every tool on this site, so word-level highlighting sits in a clean comparison view without anything competing for attention next to it.
