Why temperature can't use the same math as every other unit converter

Every other category in this converter works the same way: multiply by a fixed number and you're done — 1 meter is always 3.28084 feet, no matter what. Temperature breaks that pattern entirely.

Weight converter, mass converter, and four more categories

Length, weight/mass, volume, area, and speed all convert with a straight multiplication — pick a category, pick your from/to units (milligrams through US tons for weight, square feet through acres for area), and the result updates as you type.

Temperature converter, with an offset built in

Celsius, Fahrenheit, and Kelvin don't share a zero point — 0°C is 32°F is 273.15K, and no single multiplier connects all three. This tool routes every conversion through Celsius as a common reference point, so Fahrenheit-to-Kelvin (a combination most people never memorize) works exactly the same as any other pair.
