It's how many days your budget lasts at your daily usage rate — the same concept as startup cash runway, applied to AI API spend.

Does this calculate exact message limits for Claude Pro or Max subscriptions?

No — Anthropic only officially states that Max 5x gives 5x the usage of Pro and Max 20x gives 20x, without publishing a fixed message count. This calculator covers pay-as-you-go API usage, where per-token pricing is clearly published.

How is prompt caching handled?

Check the box and input token cost is multiplied by 0.1 — a cache hit costs 10% of the standard input price, per Anthropic's official pricing documentation.
