IRA Calculator
🇺🇸 US-specific: Traditional and Roth IRAs are US tax-code retirement accounts — this tool doesn't apply outside the US retirement system.
Enter a valid balance, contribution, and ages (retirement age after current age).
Free IRA calculator covering both Traditional and Roth in one tool, with a live 2026 contribution limit check ($7,500, or $8,600 at age 50+) and a Roth income phase-out check by filing status — most calculators split these into separate tools or skip the income check entirely.
How it works
- Choose Traditional or Roth
- Enter your balance, contribution, ages, and expected return
- For Roth, enter your MAGI and filing status to check eligibility against the 2026 phase-out range
Frequently asked questions
What's the difference between Traditional and Roth?
Traditional IRA contributions may be tax-deductible now, with withdrawals taxed as ordinary income in retirement. Roth IRA contributions use after-tax money now, but qualified withdrawals in retirement are completely tax-free.
What if my income is too high for a Roth IRA?
For 2026, the phase-out range is $153,000-$168,000 MAGI for single filers and $242,000-$252,000 for married filing jointly. Above the top of the range, you can't contribute directly at all — this tool checks your MAGI against the correct range for your filing status and reduces or zeroes out the contribution accordingly.
