GFR Calculator
🩺 Uses the 2021 CKD-EPI race-free equation, the current clinical standard (source: National Kidney Foundation) — this is a screening estimate, not a diagnosis.
Enter a valid age (18+) and a positive creatinine value.
This estimates kidney function from a single lab value and is meant for general awareness, not diagnosis. A single low reading can also reflect dehydration, muscle mass, or lab variation — CKD staging requires results confirmed over at least 3 months, per a doctor's evaluation. Always discuss actual lab results with your healthcare provider.
Free eGFR calculator using the 2021 CKD-EPI race-free equation — the current clinical standard, which removed the race coefficient used in older versions — with CKD stage classification.
How it works
- Enter your sex, age, and serum creatinine level (from a lab result)
- See your estimated GFR and the corresponding CKD stage
Frequently asked questions
Why does this use a 'race-free' equation?
The original CKD-EPI equation included a race coefficient. In 2021, the National Kidney Foundation and American Society of Nephrology jointly recommended a new equation without it, now the current clinical standard used by labs and providers.
Is a single low reading a diagnosis?
No — GFR staging for chronic kidney disease requires results confirmed over at least 3 months. A single reading can be affected by dehydration, recent exercise, muscle mass, or lab variation. Always discuss actual results with your healthcare provider rather than relying on a single calculation.
