Most slug generators can't cap the length. Ours has a slider that never chops a word in half.

Before building our SEO slug generator, we checked two popular slug tools directly to see what they actually give you.

A slug generator that's live from the start, not after you flip a setting

codebeautify.org's slug generator defaults to a "Slugify" button — you have to separately turn on an "Auto" checkbox to get live conversion. Ours is live from the first keystroke; there's no setting to find first.

A text to slug converter with a max-length slider

Neither codebeautify.org nor commentpicker.com lets you set a maximum slug length. That's a real gap: Google commonly truncates long URLs in search result snippets, and a lot of CMS platforms recommend keeping slugs under 60 characters for exactly that reason. Ours has a max-length slider built into the main form.

A slug generator that won't chop a word in half

Cutting a slug at a fixed character count risks slicing straight through a word — "special-off" instead of "special." Ours only ever cuts at a separator, so the result is always whole words, however short you set the limit.

SEO-friendly URLs without ads paid to go away

commentpicker.com lists "Ad-free & Premium" as a paid upgrade, meaning the free version carries ads. This tool's input area follows the same ad-free rule as every tool on this site — free means free, not free-with-ads-unless-you-pay.
